Apple’s first foldable iPhone, expected to be the iPhone Ultra, may be released in two colors: silver and dark blue.
On Aug. 9, tech outlet 9to5Mac reported that accessory leaker Sonny Dickson (소니 딕슨) posted photos on social media showing iPhone camera protector accessories in silver and dark blue.
The items shown are third-party accessories that fit over the iPhone Ultra’s camera bump. Apple has not confirmed any official colors. Still, they are drawing attention as a clue to possible launch colors because the accessories are said to be made based on supply-chain information. Dickson also described the photos as suggesting the iPhone Ultra’s colors may have leaked.
The key question is the specific direction of the dark color. In February, there was a forecast that the iPhone Ultra could come in “some form of dark gray or black” and a “variant of white or light silver.” The latest leak suggests the dark color may have been settled as a very dark blue rather than dark gray.
The silver tone broadly matches earlier expectations. The dark color, by contrast, appears to be shifting in emphasis from black or dark gray toward dark blue. It is not confirmed whether Apple adjusted its color strategy to shape first impressions of a foldable iPhone and differentiate the lineup, but these two combinations are at least being discussed as leading possibilities around the supply chain.
Attention is also returning to reported color changes for the iPhone 18 Pro, which is also being talked about as likely to be unveiled next month. Observers say Apple is considering new colors for the iPhone 18 Pro, including a deep cherry tone and a light blue, in addition to silver. A black model was once mentioned as a candidate, but there is a forecast that Apple may have removed that option recently.
As the product unveiling approaches, accessory-based leaks are also growing in influence. Without finished product photos or official documents, information such as the colors of cases, camera protectors and exterior accessories often provides clues before launch. This photo also has the limitation that it shows an accessory that goes over the camera bump, not the finished product. Even so, it is noted that it is said to be made based on supply-chain leaks, and that Dickson has built a relatively solid track record in related accessory leaks.
Based on what has been confirmed so far, Apple is likely to unveil a foldable iPhone next month alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, and the foldable model’s colors appear to be narrowing to two options: silver and dark blue. The official product name has not been decided, and the market is discussing iPhone Fold and iPhone Ultra as candidates. With about a month to go until the unveiling, the key remaining point is how the actual color name and the final finishing materials will be settled.
